MathsEdge is a maths-practice tool built for the way students actually work. Handwritten working on a digital pad — transcribed to LaTeX, marked line-by-line, feedback that points at the step that went wrong. Plus an integrated reference textbook aligned to the Australian Curriculum v9 and the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.

Built for maths, not for text

Three things that make it feel right for the subject.

Typing maths is a chore. Menus, palettes, and a keyboard that doesn't know the difference between an x and a variable. MathsEdge is designed around three ideas that respect how the subject is actually done.

Handwritten input

Write your working with a stylus or finger. Multi-line algebra, fractions, surds, subscripts. Ink is transcribed to LaTeX in about a second, with a preview so you can catch a misread before you submit.

Line-by-line marking

Feedback isn't just a mark out of two. A CAS-backed line check confirms each step is equivalent to the last, so if something breaks, the feedback points at the specific line where the mistake happened.

Every skill links to its section in the built-in Year 10 textbook — theory, worked examples, click-to-reveal solutions. Curriculum-aligned to AC v9 and VC2.0. Read the primer before you sketch, or right after.

Handwriting → LaTeX → marking

Working captured how you write it.

A digital pad with pressure-sensitive strokes, undo, colours, a spare-space extender for long working. Recognition is fast enough that transcription lands before you finish scanning back over your own lines. Once you submit, the marker walks each line, checks it against the last, and decides where to award marks — without you re-typing a single character.

Solve \(2x^2 - 5x + 2 = 0\).
2x² − 5x + 2 = 0
(2x − 1)(x − 2) = 0
x = ½ or x = 2
✓ Correct. Both roots identified.

The marker actually reads your working.

Every line is compared to the one above using symbolic algebra. Equivalent step? Green. New expression that doesn't follow? The marker says so, on that line, in plain English. A slip like \((x-4)(x+2) = x^2 - 8\) isn't "wrong answer" — it's "the middle terms dropped; the correct expansion is \(x^2 - 2x - 8\)".

1.2   Expanding binomial products

Learning intentions Expand two binomials using the distributive law. Use FOIL and the area (grid) method reliably.
Example 1.2 Expand \((x+4)(x+10)\).
Solution shown by default: \(x^2 + 14x + 40\).
Key idea Every term in the first bracket multiplies every term in the second — four products, then collect like terms.
